Teddy Olson's Memorial Service

Posted on Tue, Oct 2, 2012

Ted Junior Olson, age 74 years, passed peacefully in his sleep at 6:57 PM on Monday October 1, 2012 following many months of ill health. “Teddy” as he was called most of his life, was born to Theodore John and Edith Mae Olson on January 21, 1938. He was baptized as a baby in Otter Creek. He farmed with his parents through his 1956 West Lima High School graduation. He also drove milk truck for Durward Burt and the La Farge cheese factory during high school. Following graduation, he drove dump truck for Art Nelson, then worked at General Motors in Janesville. Ted was united in marriage with Ruth Ann Rush on April 20, 1957. They lived and worked in Janesville for four years, and then returned to the La Farge area and purchased the family farm. While farming, Ted worked full time driving gas and fuel oil truck for Nixon Oil Company. In 1964 they purchased that company and later purchased his former grandparents’ home in La Farge. Ted delivered fuel for approximately 40 years. Many years later, the school needed a bus driver to finish out the year. He finished out that year and continued driving for nearly 16 years, as well as driving the fuel truck. He was a member of the Masons and retired from the LaFarge Fire Department following more than 20 years of service.
